| We are a family farm operation situated near the beautiful Birdtail Valley of Manitoba. Our dad, Peter, started farming in this area in 1948. He passed away in November, 2002 and the family continues on. Dave & Marnee and family, Amy & Tyler, Mel & Shelley and family, Nikki & Justin, Wayne & Charlene and family, Dylan & Rayna, & Mom Bonchuk (Jean) work together raising over 400 breeding females on approximately 8,000 acres of crop (wheat, oats, barley, canola and peas), pasture and hayland.
Our herd consists of 480 registered Simmental fullbloods, red and black purebreds and a small group of commercial females. Our walking herdsire battery consists of: PRL Houston 005H, Bar None Regan, MSS Jasper, Lazy S Red Pioneer, Double Bar D Gent, Lazy S Red 823P, TNT Sting, SU Rochester 75R, BHR Three Sixes, BLCC Mr. 124 and BLCC Mr. 153N. We have expanded our genetic base with an extensive A.I. Program. Using many innovative and exciting new young bulls as well as proven foundation genetics. Headlining our A.I. Sires are: Double Bar D Everest, IPU Endevor, SU Rio Grande, TNT 5 Star, KS Bravado, Remington Red Label and CNS Dream On.
We consistently sell a select group of red, black and Fullblood females every fall. We avidly believe in bringing some of our best to town, and are always selecting from the top 20% of the pen. Each spring we strictly cull our bull pen and sell a solid group of rugged, functional bulls, fed for longevity and sound movement. We take pride in the docility of our cattle as well as the strong economic viability. Both traits are extremely important and depended upon heavily here at Bonchuk Farms.
We have worked hard on our program...it is always ongoing. We strive to raise cattle that will work in the Purebred and Commercial man's pastures. With all the difficulties in the cattle industry we can still get very excited about the Simmentals we raise. Red, black, Fleckvieh - such diversity keeps our breed ahead of others in our eyes. Dad always use to say "Hang onto the cow's tail... she'll always pull you through!"
Looking forward to visiting with you... the coffee is always on!
